Definitive Rear End Swap - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

As always I've scoured this forum, that forum, all the forums! Need a rear end for a '49 - '54 frame.

Does anything swap direct, spring perches, leafs and all? I saw some speculation mid 70's Camaros do but found nobody that had actually done it and had pics.

Suggestions? By this I mean, suggestions of something you've done that worked?

There are no direct swaps. All will at least need spring perches relocated, unless you order a new one from a supplier like Currie.

I bookmarked that for the future.
I was sorta bummed after reading the Ford 9" sucks more power to turn. That is what my '57 TF panel has.

Ahhh... it's a small amount. Nothing to worry about. Keep engine rpm low on the highway and you'll more than make up for it.

After the deer repairs are complete, I will consider the rear end gear ratio change.

When I built my '52 Chev panel, I swapped a Ford Maveric 8" straight in without changing anything.
