Question About Electric Compressors?
How much air space do these require?
I was thinking of boxing one in with soundproo material to quiet it down? I dont have it yet, but trying to plan it all out before I build my interior panels. Thanks

If you mount it on some rubber isolators, you can barely hear it under the truck. Dont use the mounts a 450C comes with, get some other pieces.

You will still need a hole in your "box" to let air in so it can compress something.

Use the remote mount air filter kit and give about 6" around the comp to dissipate heat as they get very hot. :read:

450C. There is a guy here in town that bagged his after I did my 97, and he has 2 of em. They are very quiet. He said he mounted them on a shock bushing like a stud mount shock. I think it is the little itty bitty steel centered bushings they give us with the compressors N2TRUX. Mine is tightened down so much, I think that there is metal to contact between the frame, and bushing insert, and compressor bracket. (if ya know what I mean.)

I use the rubber bushings off shocks to mount my fuel pumps. Works good.

loweredd, I follow what your saying. I'll just have to play with it I guess. Maybe the 450's are quiter than the 400's. I know that Roger at Stoked Out Specialties played with the mounting trying to get it quiter. If it is better now, I dang sure didn't want to hear it before he worked on it.
![]() Have you ever heard a 400 run? Maybe becuase it's smaller it makes more noise. All I know is it makes me.... ![]() |

I never had heard a 400. That's only 33% duty, isnt it? What made you decide to run that one?

Tony at Air Ride recommended it. Like he said, and I agree the "duty cycle" is hype. Unless you plan to run a compressor constantly, duty cycle doesn't matter.....

Phantom, you just don't know. If that monster is any louder than my little 400, your cousin in the next county will know when you fire it up....:p

I wouldn't p!ss on Joe Marrow if he was on fire. I try to never say never, but it's a pretty sure bet that I won't have any AIM products on anything I own again...
