Curious if a 60-66 Chevy seat fits 55-59..
I am in need of a seat for my 58 project so I can sit in there and make motor sounds. I have found a couple 60-66 Chevy seats and a 71 seat on the 'ol Craigslist but thought I'd ask the professionals before I went to look. Don't want to have to reupholster or mod them a bunch to make them fit...what do you guys think?
Thanks- John |

I believe it will be too wide but I have never tried one. The cabs are wider inside so I would think the seat would be wider.

I'm thinking that the 60/66 cabs are wider then the older and newer cabs inside or at lest the seats are. I ran into problems trying to fit a different seat in a 64 I had because nothing else was wide enough.

Wish I saw this last week. It's about 6" too wide on either side. Can't close either door.

As I said above I had a heck of a time finding a decent seat for the 63 I had a few years ago that came with some high back buckets that were totally useless in the truck. John: I'd bolt any seat I bought in the truck to make sure it fits me and the truck before wagging it off to the trim shop. I might even want to put 100 miles on the truck in one shot sitting in that seat before I redid it. The reason being is that over the past 40 years I have had too many looks great but sit terrible seats in my 48 that I couldn't stand to drive any distance on including the mid 70's Dodge St Regis 4 door seat that is more like a plywood bench than a car seat that has been in it for a number of years. That one looked great in the wrecking yard, fits the truck pretty well but gets real uncomfortable after about 50 miles and is a killer on a 3000 mile road trip.

Re: Curious if a 60-66 Chevy seat fits 55-59..
I know this: I installed a '98 Chevy truck seat in my '59. It was a tad wide, but worked well and I had room for three and three seat belts. Also, we used a "square body" (73-87) bench in a '66. It should work just fine.

Re: Curious if a 60-66 Chevy seat fits 55-59..
I installed an '02 second row Tahoe seat. It is a tad wide, but it's extra-ordinarily comfortable and I can put up with the extra wideness, it kind of puts me slightly off center to the steering wheel, BUT~ I have room for a child seat in the middle for our 5 y/o grandaughter to sit, plus the center console pulls down for drinks and phone. I Love my seat!
