5.3 Vortex 4L60 E transmission into 72GMC Jimmy question
To those who have done this engine swap, I have a question about the motor location. Right now I am using the stock transmission cross member location and I have an Advance Adapter motor mounts that I just drilled into position. The stock drive shafts, front and rear seam perfect fit, but the engine seems too close to the firewall. I don't have a problem with redoing the stock drive shafts to give better clearance from the firewall, just trying to figure out if this is necessary.

Re: 5.3 Vortex 4L60 E transmission into 72GMC Jimmy question
I used the AA motor mounts and the AA 4l60e to np205 adapter, also. I kept the TC in the stock position. The motor was nowhere near the firewall with this combo. There was also plenty of room from the radiator support to mount up electric fans…
Something doesn't seem right if your right up to the firewall. Having said that, if it all fits who cares. Can you still pull valve covers if you need to?

I was taking rough measurements, based on a front part of the tub that I rebuilt, everything looks good I was second guessing myself.

Re: 5.3 Vortex 4L60 E transmission into 72GMC Jimmy question
Which Advanced Adapter parts did you guys use? Looking at there website it looks quite expensive. $752 for the adapter and $76 bucks for the mount conversion plates. Is there a cheaper way to do this??? I would like to do this conversion on the cheap, I have gotten the engine or trans yet if the year range makes any difference.
Thanks

Thanks for the info, I will check into that. I was hoping for a even cheaper option, but that might be as good as it gets when it's a 4x4.
