Picked up a new 1967 c10

BTW, rebuilding the shifter is super simple and costs $18. I bought the shim kit from this guy:

You only need a 9/16" and 5/8" wrench or socket and a flathead screwdriver to do it and it took me about 10 mins to do it.

It is a night and day difference and does not feel sloppy anymore.

I finally made it back to WA to get my truck. It has been sitting since December.

The plan was simple enough: fly there and if it starts, load it up with my remaining tools and drive it back to Burbank (in So. Cal).

I didn't make it to the house until 1:30 AM. I hooked the battery up and she fired right up. I let her run while I loaded the truck, then I shut her down for the night. I originally had a full four days planned for the trip, which allowed time to swap out my inoperable speedometer and install my driver's door mirror.

Unfortunately, I got assigned a last minute business trip to Tupelo (flying out at 0700 Sunday), which mandated I leave Thursday so I would have time to get a truck and trailer in case there were any problems.

Truck ran good the whole way, used 2 quarts of oil in 1100 miles, but only got 12 mpg. I suspect it was the extra weight and the fact that I was driving 75 mph (just a guess, but I kept pace with the fast moving traffic) most of the way. The little 283 was screaming thanks to the 3.73 gears and 235/75R/15 tires. I've gotten 16 mpg, with no extra weight, by keeping it between 55-60 MPH.

I'm going to check the plugs and re-set the mixture screws for the so Cal heat. I won't be able to get started on her until August.
