My Blazer - An Ongoing Project
Well here is my truck and its stages over the past couple years. Still haven't found quite the look or direction that I have wanted to go with but hopefully as the funds grow it will be easier to figure out. This will be the official project thread for it and I will update it with future changes like the 3/4 ton running gear swap and complete interior redo coming up over the winter months. Thanks

Re: My Blazer - An Ongoing Project
The run down is I bought the truck off craigslist for $800 with a blown motor. I had a reman 305 at home that had been sitting for about 8 yrs and after some fresh gaskets and a carb rebuild I had it going. Bought a 4in rough country lift and some used bias ply 35x14.50 pitbull rockers. I loved the way the truck looked but the 305 and stock gears made it nearly undrivable, plus the massive rollers were noticeably bending my rear 10bolt axle with 1.5" wheel spacers. That's when I redid the 10" wide rally wheels and installed some smaller 35s. Over the summer I picked up a set of 4.56 axles with a 6" rancho all spring lift for $300! 10 bolt front/14ff rear with Detroit locker. The only catch was the front was still 6 lug, so I ordered all the parts to convert the front over to matching 8 lug rotors. The axles are about to under go a light cleaning and rebuild and then it should be as simple as unbolt the 1/2ton stuff and swap under the 3/4 ton gear springs and all. Just have to order some lug nuts and stainless steel extended brakelines. The goal is to have the axles done and everything in hand to do the swap in one weekend because this is a backup vehicle to my pita DD.

Re: My Blazer - An Ongoing Project
The truck has zero rust and looked like it had never seen mud when I first got it. I have only cut up with it a few times but it will get a good cleaning under when we do the axle swap. Plans include 6" all spring and 1" body lift, 35" tires on 20" rims soon to be coated black. Interior is currently gutted dash and all because of ruined carpet. Plans for that are custom door panels and rear panels with subs, and newer chevy front seats. Its a lot to but I cant wait to get on with it. Love being able to get out there with my family and cruise with the top off and enjoy the outdoors.

Re: My Blazer - An Ongoing Project
I remember this truck from the first pic in the thread from when you bought it with the bad 305. I didn't realize it was the same truck/owner from the recent updates with the 20's. Looking good although I'll admit to being biased toward 15" rallys. The grille upgrade is perfect. Six inches of lift for 35's is borderline overkill, I'd run it with the lift only a while before you add the body lift. Lifts look funny if you're not stuffing the wheel wells full. Nice progress, looking forward to updates.

Re: My Blazer - An Ongoing Project
Thanks guys. Yea I loved the mickey Thompson/pit bull setup but bias tires are a little wack, and the 1/2 ton running gear just couldnt handle the offset. I buy tires and stuff used off craigslist and 20s are common. I will pick up something between 35-37". I love it but between my brothers 85 swb and my bro-in-laws 79/86 swb I haven't had the time or help to get much done. Got to get to it!
