350 to 454 swap

I've got a '84 K20 4wd 4 speed with a 350 in it. I want to swap it out for a 454. Has anyone done this before? What do I need to do the conversion? My 454 is missing a alternator and upper bracket and the power steering set up. Will any of the 350 parts fit, with the exception of the alternator bracket which I know wont fit. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not much will interchange. Starter, alternator, power steering pump may. You will also need a manual trans flywheel. 350's and 454's were balanced differently.

Re: 350 to 454 swap

You may need an add-a-leaf in the front spring pack to help hold up all that extra weight. I did it on an '82 GMC 3/4 ton 2WD but it's been years ago. The power steering pump should work with the correct brackets of course. You'll need new exhaust head pipes too. Good time to replace the motor mounts too. I had to buy an extension wire harness for the alternator because it's farther across the big block. It's a common part at the local auto parts house.
