700r4 part throttle shift points

At what general speed and rpm do your 700r4s make their shifts? Say, leaving a stop sign or light just keeping up with traffic not flooring it or anything. I ask this because sometimes I feel mine shifts a bit too early, but only during part throttle, not wot. It usually shifts from 1-2 around 8-10 mph at around 1800 rpms or so. And before you ask yes the tv cable is correctly adjusted. This is in an 85 k10 with 4.11's and 33's. Thanks

DR. the 700 has a low 1-2 shift to start with at light throttle, now add a 4:10 rear and it gets lower yet. It's fine, jim

Re: 700r4 part throttle shift points

Since you asked when the shift points should be I now have to ask. I believe my trans is about shot.. but anyhow... My truck doesnt shift from 1st to 2nd till 25MPH!!! This si under regular driving or flooring it... uhhhh.... So lets just say my 350 is getting like 5 miles to the gallon... because it does it all the way through the gears. Wont hit 4th till just over 55mph...

Any ideas???

Re: 700r4 part throttle shift points

My truck is an all stock 85 K10. When I had the tranny rebuilt the tranny guy told me it should shift 1-2 between 18-20 MPH. This is under normal acceleration. By the way it is a 700R.

Re: 700r4 part throttle shift points

Shift points on the 700R4 can vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle. It depends on gear ratio, throttle position, weight of the vehicle, and Throttle valve (in the valve body) position.
The TV cable varies line pressure based on throttle position. Late shifts are due to higher line pressure. Shifting too early is low line pressure. Driving with a mis-adjusted TV cable with too low line pressure can smoke the clutches in a matter of a few miles. On the other side, late shifting most likely will not cause damage to the trans but is a pain in stop and go driving.
Just thought I'd throw that info out in case anyone wasn't aware.
Adjusting the TV cable correctly is a pretty easy procedure.

Re: 700r4 part throttle shift points

1st - 2nd -15 MPH
2nd - 3rd 25-30 MPH
3rd - 4th (OD) 45 MPH
These are approximate factory shift points.
WOT shifts are controlled by the governor.

this is an old thread but I need to make sure, I have very similar set up, 4.11 and 33's, what is different is my motor is a 4.3 ,my first shift is at 6mph
I have a governor calibration kit and by adj I can change all the other shift points, but not the 6 mph 1st to 2nd...I was very concerned a bout the 6 mph shift into 2nd. any thoughts???
thanks
