Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
I blasted and painted my mstercylinder with Eastwoods Brake Gray, so far I love it. Looks nice, my M/C wasn't very old but rusted quickly and looked terrible. I took it apart blasted it in a cabinet, prepped it and shot it with Brake Gray. Looks great, doesn't look like paint still shows all the pores of the cast metal. Covered well also. So Far I highly recomend this product, We will see how it holds up over time. I am going to spray my drums and power gearbox with the rest of the can, If I have enough I will do my front hubs also.
I am going to do my exhaust manifold next with Eastwood Factory Gray manifold paint ( I bought it at the same time as the Brake Gray )

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
It looks good, let us know how it holds up, I want to use it if it lasts.

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
for exhaust i have done ceramic coat. its the same process as powder coat and will hold up for years. it comes in black, 3 shades of cast... light, med, and dark and shinny silver. call your local powder coat shops and see if they do ceramic.

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
That master cylinder looks really nice. I like the cast iron or "cast blast" finishes. It gives you the look of bare cast iron with the protection of paint.
What did you paint the cap with? It looks new.

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
The master cylinder was new but flash rusted quickly due to the humidity here in good ol' Oklahoma. The cap came gold anodized or plated when new so it has held up ok. The wire retaining clip I painted with a dull metallic alum. silver Krylon has, it resembles silver cad plating.

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
I painted my new M/C with "cast grey" from VHT.
It was rusted thru in less than a year. I hope yours holds up better. I buy aftermarket aluminum master cylinders now. (dual reservoir for 67-72 trucks)

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
I'm looking forward to seeing how well it holds up. Not many things tolerate brake fluid. If it holds up as well as advertised it would be a real blessing. It seems almost inevitable that a small drip will end up on the painted surface when installing a master cylinder, or when removing the lid to check the fluid level.

I am pleased with it so far, it covered great and looks fantastic so far. It took very little paint so I have tons left to paint other things.

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
Maybe try a satin clear to preserve the new cast iron paint??
Brake fluid is pretty evil on paint, that's for sure.

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
Silicone brake fluid is easier on the paint, not as good for a performance brake system but doesn't eat paint. It is expensive, but can be bought locally @ Autozone.

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
Is Silicone brake fluid ok in older brake systems?

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
Can you tell us a good source for the aluminum m/c only, without the booster?

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray *update*
Update for those that wanted to know how it held up
A year and a half later and it still looks great! I have spilled fluid on it, washed it at the car wash, removed the master cylinder from the booster... I would recommend this to anyone! I just painted my blasted hood hinges with this since they were bare metal from the factory and they look nice. This paint is very thin and doesn't give it a painted appearance looks like bare metal.

Re: Painted my M/C with Eastwood Brake Gray
I'm gonna have to look into some of that paint. My m/c is brand new an all rusty. Thinking of pulling it off and sanding it and putting some paint on it.
