Question Semi Conversion......

Ok I'm planning on doing the semi wheel conversion on my 84 crew cab dually... Just wanna know what all I gotta do to make this work?
Was told chassis cab rearend is the best and easiest way to do this....
And also planning on air bags also...

Most run adapters and milled down semi rims,If you got the cash http://nashvillewheelcompany.com/ will cut you any size wheel in any lug pattern you want.

You've got options, just depends on what you can handle yourself and how your budget is looking.

Fender game - some guys just let the wheels sit where they sit and widen the fenders to cover them. Some more successfully than others.

Wheel game - Tennessee Wheel and Tire has the Townasty, which is narrower and has a different offset than a standard semi. Helps keep the outer wheel inside the stock fender. Trevor can also face-mill wheels to bring them closer together, maybe 1 1/4 - 1 1/2" difference depending on the wheel.

Axle game - there's three basic axle widths for the 14 bolt FF axle. Cab / chassis being the narrowest. A problem with the (super narrow) C&C axle is that there's not much room outside the frame for bags and link bars, especially if you want to run 4 semi's on the rear. Some don't like the sucked-in rear wheels look either, but Dima (I think) offers a couple - three choices of adapter thickness to push the wheels back out some.

IMO it's better to get your wheel / tire combo first, then narrow the stock axle to put the wheels where you want them. Some don't have access to a machine shop / fabricator to handle this, and have to work around it.

A couple guys on here have gone with the 14 bolt semi-floater axle used in 3/4 ton trucks and Suburbans, which seems to be a good compromise if you don't mind giving up the full floater (not likely you'd need that on a bagged truck anyway).
