Re: Various parts form ebay and some trucks...not mine.

Nothing against you, at all, TJ but why is it we have to be paid members to post our own items for sale, but can list everyone elses's?

I am just curious why we can give free advertising to people on ebay, craigslist, etc that have no interest(investment) in this site at all? Seems a bit lop-sided to me.

Needing to be a paid member to advertise is silly..

No clue...my guess is that they aren't using this forum to get money...meaning...when you post a for sale add...you are getting all the money when it sells..as well as using forum space. My belief is that the board prefers that members pay to post ads such as for sale so that the board is also gaining some money to keep this place running??? I do know that if it wasn't for the supporting members I don't think this place would be as great and big as it is. Not sure...there are reasons and I don't remember if the board has explained them before.

Well, IMO , if someone is displaying an ad from somewhere else, they're creating a possible sale for that person, who is not even on this site and pocketing all the money from the sale. So....what's the difference?

I wasn't really seeing what my paid membership was getting, so like ALOT of others, just staying as a register one for now.

I don't see how posting anything from ebay here is helping anybody out on this forum. We can all look on evilbay ourselves if we need to.
So I agree with not posting others ads but I also feel that needing to be a supporting member to post ads is the right thing to do. It keeps the site from becoming another craigslist. It seems we are already getting too many people on the for sale sites that their only purpose on the board is to sell parts.

I come to this site for many reasons
Inspiration for one.
I clicked on this post for Inspiration
I usually don't surf Flee-bay or craigslist But find these listing interesting
Probably not going to buy a truck for $18,000
or gauge cluster for $200 I just need one not extra one
still like looking at what the market allows....Sp

I really don't know. I do know that posting ebay ads is allowed and I post them for people on this forum to see as well as if they may need the part. If the board tells me not to post these ads then I won't, but so far it has been allowed. T.J.

Most of them are supporting members though, the board will automatically not allow you to post an ad if you aren't a supporting member. I am not trying to break the rules, I have been posting ebay or craigslist ads and the board hasn't said anything. And no..there have been many times were people have been helped though. And I enjoy seeing these ads posted just for the fact of seeing some really neat finds. I am not trying to be offensive.

Re: Various parts form ebay and some trucks...not mine.

As I said, TJ this was not in any form a jab at you for the forum. There's been several just like it and in just my opinion, I see no benefit of paying to post an ad here, when I can post on ebay, or CL for free and then get it referenced here for free publicity. The only people that are benfiting from reposting these ebay ads are the ones selling and there is no way of knowing if any of them are paying members here.

And in reference to someone's post about credibility posting here over ebay or CL. I see no difference. Any sale is solely dependent on who sees the ad, no matter where it is.

Re: Various parts form ebay and some trucks...not mine.

Some of the thread ad's I've posted have lead members to buys. Sometimes it's in the way you search in an add that will help a fellow member find the part they have been looking for, but not using the words and phrases that will lead them to the part or truck. One ad comes to mind that another member knew of, and was able to provide additional information.
I think it comes down to as always, if you like what your reading, continue to read, if you don't, pass, move onto the next subject.

Re: Various parts form ebay and some trucks...not mine.

Ive found many rare and hard to find parts that were in listed incorrectly and would have never been found if they hadn't been listed here for 60-66 guys to purchase. I suppose I could turn a cheek and not much care, but some of the parts I've found are very hard to find and were purchased by forum members due to being posted.

I understand both sides of the conversation of this thread and normally stay out of threads like these, but sometimes they do help. A few months ago I found some NOS hubcaps on ebay in the wrong category, excellent condition and at a steal of a price....listed them here as numerous members are looking for them and they were sold in minutes. Made whoever the forum member was very happy to have had them posted. I don't think its so much as being posted to help the buyer, but maybe bring some awareness to other members who may have an interest in the items.

If membership dues help keep this forum up, I'll be a paying member until they shut it down. Just my $.02 worth.

I got a correct spare tire carrier from a heads up post
I would just ignore, as they are always marked craiglist or ebay.

I agree with supporting this site. If we don't, it could shut down. I get my money's worth asking one question. Saves that much in frustration from doing it wrong.

I could see, and have, posted links on an occasional specifically interesting item, but not random 60-66 stuff like has been done in this thread. A thread like this will just turn into a bunch of dead links.

closed at OP request. I would suggest anyone with questions on linking ebay ads PM josh. He would be more than happy to explain the reasons for the rules etc.

Yes you can post others ads. Folks have shared them forever, and truth be this is the first time I have ever seen anyone complain about that? You never know whom it may help out.
