Re: How much money in your Squarebody?

When I rebuilt the 83, it was right around $13,000. Its probably worth $13 the way she sits today (in primer, cab is ruined by rust, no engine).

The 1987 is more reasonable at ~$3500 includiung the purcahse price.

But neither are running at the moment. So more money to go.

Re: How much money in your Squarebody?

Let's see. 1600 for the truck, 500 for a motor and 300 to the neighbor to put it in. 500 for new tires and about 400 in incidental parts. works out to 3300 bucks.

Of course that doesn't count the 10K in fuel to drive it the 40 thousand mile I've put on it the last five years.

Re: How much money in your Squarebody?

Hmm, so far, about $2500 (if you include labor). Bought the truck for $1200, spent $500 on tires...so the rest I guess has been on the brakes, fuel system, etc. And I'm still leaking a quart of oil every 100 miles because of a bad oil pan gasket...

Re: How much money in your Squarebody?

Between $7-8 grand so far and this is what I have to show for it. What you dont't see is the new GM fenders, cowl hood, new tires, and the 355 short block. Otherwise as you see it. Kind of depressing when I think about it. That cost is just this go around. Doesn't include the purchase price of how the truck was originally set up when I bought it. Also doesn't include the cost of any money in it at that point either.

Re: How much money in your Squarebody?

Over the 25 some odd years I've had my truck, not including fuel or insurance, is just under $29,000. Thats includes purchase price, body work, paint, an engine, engine mods, a transmission or two, a few cams, aftermarket bucket seats, and every other little thing I've changed, altered or repaired since I've owned it.

Alex.

Re: How much money in your Squarebody?

8k so far. A good trick my wife uses that helps keep expenses down is to keep me broke. Hard to spend it on the truck when it is already spent.

Re: How much money in your Squarebody?

to me it's not just what you have into it/but what do you get out of it
I'd say 5-6,000 over all /per truck, but then it averages out even better, after a couple of years of use, then buying new

Re: How much money in your Squarebody?

Mines probably the lowest on this list so far,The 82 K25 got it for free, have approx $900.00 in it. The 86 K20 bought it for $1600,probably have around $1500 in parts,The 86K25 Paid $400.00, have about $500 in repairs and the 81 Crew K35 paid $600.00, have around $400 in parts.I contract so am able to charge the truck out daily,it's a win win situation.Get to drive an old Chevy/GMC daily & get paid to do it....

Re: How much money in your Squarebody?

I traded a DPMS Ar ($500) for the truck last year when the AR scare was on. The truck was probably worth about $2500. I have spent about $1000 rebuilding the front end, $1400 for a crate motor, odds and end parts here and there $100, windshield x2 $125 each, seat recovered $300 it goes on and on....tires...wheels....I give up.....wait what was the question?
