My '73 GMC 4x4 (my first project)

Hello to all of you who share my common interest, rebuildng a GMC or Chevy truck. I am new to the forum and I am looking forward to chatting and picking anyones brain for info and to learn some things about how to do my rebuild. It is a 1973 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 pick up that my uncle had given to me about 10 or so years ago. I used it as a daily driver then mostly for the dump and hunting, the body got really rough but it still ran good. I had it up for sale for a while then one day I got this wild idea to tear it down and rebuild it!! I took the truck down in a matter of a week or so, putting labels on everything and taking pictures of each step something I had to do for a first timer. So, I am looking for knowledge, advice, and a little encouragement from anyone who will offer. Thanks!!: I'm trying to figure out how to get more than 1 pic to upload at a time!!

Re: My '73 GMC 4x4 (my first project)

I can only get one pic up at a time. Yes I think it has great potential She has a 14 bolt rear and dana 44 front end most of the mechanical end like transfer case and trany just need gaskets and paint ran well before I put her up. I wanna do something to the 350 engine to beef er up a little but other than that she'll be stock. I'm looking at adding a 6-8 inch lift and a candied blue and white two tone when she's done.

Re: My '73 GMC 4x4 (my first project)

I myself am doing a K20 4x4 project, but I will post up pics when I am done as I do not have much free time right now. Also I need the truck on the road fast, and it will likely be 2wd first.

On my project I got 2 project trucks with 10 bolt fronts, and one has a 6 inch lift springs with a drop pitman. Or that is what I believe right now.

I am trying to decide on how much lift I want when done right now. I am in process of merging the 3 trucks I have into 1 runner. With the best 4x4 pieces from the 2 project trucks, and the best body pieces from the 3.

Got the truck off to the body shop yesterday, now for my backordered energy suspension bushings to come in and I can put the chassis back together and drive train in!
