oil pressure switch locating
Hey i swapped the 305 in my truck for a 350 and the 350 had a block plug above the oil filter where my oil pressure switch went. i have heard that people use the port behind the intake for the oil pressure but the threads are way to small for my oil switch. Is there some sort of adapter or something i'm missing?

Re: oil pressure switch locating
Behind the intake is the factory spot. Although when the back of the cam wears down it will read lower pressure than is actually there, reason why your new motor has one above the filter. Gives more realistic pressure reading.

Re: oil pressure switch locating
The sending unit goes behind the distributor. The oil pressure switch itself that the choke light runs through goes above the oil filter on the block. Simply undo the threaded insert on the block and screw in the switch. It will work fine.

Yes, there are adapters you can buy. All you need is something for, if I remember correctly, 1/8th inch NPT threads to whatever threads your sender has on it. They're all over Ebay, or you can sift through your local plumbing section as a home store like Home Depot, Menards, etc.

Re: oil pressure switch locating
Funny, mine came right out. That's definitely where it needs to go though.

Re: oil pressure switch locating
When I switched from idiot to gauges i left it in the back of the intake
used an angle and extention to move the large sender over
