Jag XJ6 front axle
Question:

I would say it could be made to fit but by no stretch is it going to more or less a straight fit.

Wouldn't be any easier than using all the bolt on stuff available and factory parts.
EDIT: Of coarse, have to take into consideration your location and availability of parts- I would venture to guess salvage yards there are not stockpiled full of '73-87 Chevy trucks. |

I don't the know the for sure answer on this. But I used to have a 1952 Ford F-1 pickup. The Jag front end is very popular on these models. But I think that generation on Fords are much more narrow then 60-66 Chevy's. My only advice would be make sure you measure the Jag front end before you make up your mind.

Thnx Guys for the input, @Tincan1966, your absolutley right about gathering parts, indeed no salvage yard stockpiled full of '73-87 Chevy trucks. So when the Jag front end came up for sale I thought this could be a good shot at having a low front end with bags and disk brakes. Gonna send this guy a mail and ask for measurements.

If I'm not mistaken the Jag measures 59 1/2 inches hub to hub.

I'm putting a XJS IFS/IRS in my 1941 Chevrolet Coupe.
There is a lot of info out there on these swaps. Stateside everyone is pushed toward Mustang II, but Jags are cheap and easier. Real common in OZ. The XJ6/XJS front suspension is also more rugged, designed for a car that closes in on 2 tons. The MII is an evolution from the Falcon, a much lighter platform. The OP has better pickings for them in his locale, too.
I have a mid 80s unit I'm putting in the front of a 1954 Jaguar Mk7 Saloon (sedan), mild custom I'm building. The `54 Jag came with torsion bar orig. The rear is done already with `95 T-Bird IRS. The plan is for bags on all 4 corners. |
