Is it bad to run a Squarebore Carb with a Spreadbore Intake??
I THINK I'm running a Squarebore Carb (Holley 4160) with a Spreadbore intake (Edelbrock Performer #3701). Would this make for a bad setup?? Maybe this is the problem my truck doesn't run like it should...
Here's a picture of my intake..is this Squarebore? THIS is a squarebore isn't it? |

Be really careful when you bolt it on the intake sometimes the base plate on the carb is to small for the intake ie... causes vaccum problems just some experence talking my.02

Tim, Edelbrock sells a spacer specifically for this purpose. i know i didnt have any problems putting my 1405 on my 2101 intake, but the base plate on the Eddy carb looks wider than the Holley. i'd say put the spacer on it, and call it a day. since you've probably already got the kickdown bracket for the Holley that bolts to the carb stud, you shouldnt have any linkage issues. if you do not have this brakcet, get one, its only $10 or so.

Fel Pro Makes a gasket Thats used for mid 70s 460 ford apps it is extra wide holley pattern and has bushings on the holes it works nice with that manifold i used to run a 2101 with a edelbrock carb some gaskets like Mr gasket and whatnot would eventually blow out on the side of the back barrels I dont recall the exact part number i can get it if you still need info and the gasket only costs like 8 bucks at oriellys and comes with a warranty
