Thanks for posting it....

The 77 Sport was the year i was missing.

Called the vendor and made a deal....seems like a good guy.

He bought it from the original owner.

I just need to find a set of the original PA6 wheels

Alex I am glad you got this truck. It still has the thin stripes on the hood. At least most of the stripes are these so they can be used as a pattern to reproduce them. I really want to do my 77, but the stripes have been my holdup. --Clint

That is awesome. Love to see the less common trucks being saved. I'd love to see them all lined up in a picture, I haven't heard of any collections that have multiple sport / street coupe trucks.

80 sport, are you in the process of purchasing it? That's great I knew someone would have wanted it for the price, the last one I posted was $17k.

Is it the same hub that is found on the early ralley wheels?

Re: Hey all you sport truck guys this one just popped up here in Phoenix

Glad to see that 80SPORT finally got his 77 ChevySport. I always thought he
was the key to get the ball rolling on producing the stripes. Wish him luck
on his project. If you need any reference for the truck I have plenty of pictures of mine from all angles. I posted the picture below before but will
post again to show my never used spare-PA6 wheel with the original tire.
Good Luck-Larry

Thanks

Yours appears to have the early style rally cap that attaches from the rear.

Did the spare come with a cap from the factory?

I will have to watch for a NOS set of the early caps;I have a few sets of the newer style that bolt from the front but only used ones of the old style

80SPORT: Yes it does attach from the rear. IIRC I ordered an extra one when I ordered the truck. At that time I thought I would use the spare and did not want to be swithching the caps out. BTW my truck is a July built truck out of Janesville WI. (Now closed) Larry
P.S. Will you be doing a complete frame off restoration??

All of the 77 4x4 sports I have seen in old pics did not have caps. I am not going to put them on mine.

They may have been an option but I think if the truck came with rally or PA6 they were standard.I have an old ad but you can not see if the blue truck has them...and often the ad was not correct as it was done on pre production units.I am hoping the build sheet is still under the seat and I will also try to get the original GM sheet from George at GM Vintage.

Re: Hey all you sport truck guys this one just popped up here in Phoenix

I found one here on craigslist about a month ago just like that but rough. It was $1200. Mostly original paint but right fender had been replaced. It wasn't listed as a sport though. Think it was listed as a 78 Scottsdale.

Here is a pic of an ad for a 77 sport. Also an old pic of a 77 two wheel drive sport with the pa6 wheels and no caps. I guess it is personal preference though. --Clint

Re: Hey all you sport truck guys this one just popped up here in Phoenix

I personally wouldn't call those original wagon wheels rare, not around here anyways. I have 3 sets of the 2wd -8" and have seen a lot of older 77-87 Gm's out here in central Sask. with them. I know of a truck with the 2wd-7" PA6 rims too.

No.

Usually the spare was hidden under the bed but even for bed mount spare there were still only 4 caps.

Not a high runner but not really rare, either. They were available as a "free flow" option (not tied to any package) so they could be ordered just like a rally wheel, or the aluminum wheel or any hubcap (same production volume).

Re: Hey all you sport truck guys this one just popped up here in Phoenix

I have found that the 5 lug ones are rare around here. I am sure it is more of a regional thing. Like some areas had more fleetsides with wood bed floors on the early trucks. Certain areas liked some styles better. The 6 lug OEM wagon wheels are pretty common around here. It seems most better optioned 2wd trucks around here got rallys.
