Stock Alternator Specs.
Well... my alternator is stock, its either from 93 or 78, im not sure. What were the stock numbers on the 78's?
I need to replace it, my windows really dont want to roll up or down anymore at idle. Any suggestions on what to go with. I have a 500 watt system installed also, so I need some juice. Power everything also.

I don't think any of our trucks came with a 78 or 93 amp alternator. If I'm not wrong, they were 60 something amps.

About alternators and batteries.
Batteries store electrical energy. How much is stored is based on the battery capacity, as 450 ,600,or 950 amps.
An alternator's ampacity determines how quickly a battery will be refilled with amps. Batteries can only hold a certain electrical voltage. A fully charged battery will reflect 12.6 volts using a digital volt meter or multimeter. Most alternators will make NO amps or volts at idle. Alternators make power until the pulley spins at least 3000 rpm. The biggest single reason for alternator failure and poor output is.....POOR Grounds. Add a few grounds. Many vehicles ground the engine with only the exhaust. Every electrical device MUST have a good ground. There are few cars and trucks with perfect grounds. The make provided just enough of anything to make it work. Battery posts also contribute to many electrical failures.

Well... looks like my grounds are just fine. I even made sure it was good and changed it to the frame. My alternator prolly just sucks. I may swap alternators with my 80, since it seems to recharge really quick. Im selling the bugger anyway, pretty much for parts and it has power nothing, so it wont be missed.
