Thanks for the LSx bug, I think?
I really appreciate the quality posts on this forum. You guys should all be proud! I have a 72 K10 with a 396/TH400/NP205. I was considering a MPFI upgrade, but after reading all the LSx swap info I'm thinking an LSx with either auto or NV4500, depending on what I find. I'm guessing by the time I sell my 67 date coded, original bore 396 and TH400, it will be a ton cheaper than an EFI upgrade. Thanks again for the info and after I read all I can about the swaps I'm sure I will still have a few questions so....thank you in advance!
Jeff

Selling the engine and trans as a pair is probably preferable to a prospective buyer, if they have interest in its' vintage.
No reason not to go with an o/d trans, unless the physical fitment is an issue. Plenty have done it.

I spent most of my money on whiskey and women, then just wasted the rest.

Buy the biggest parts first, the rest can be bought with lunch money you saved!

Re: Thanks for the LSx bug, I think?
I waffling on the manual. I really like the NV4500s. Luckily I have time to decide and see what I find. It may come down to what I find looking for the motor.

It's easy for the 2wd guys to say "just throw the electronic transmission in there" they don't have to worry about adapting it to a transfer case...

Yeah, unfortunately it's not as simple as buying a kit and bolting it on. You have to have to do some machine work to the parts in that $700 kit. I hear you. I thought long and hard about converting my Blazer to 2wd and doing some center mounted A-arms but that would have been a whole other pit to throw money down and it has plenty as it is.

Re: Thanks for the LSx bug, I think?
I may just fuel inject my 396. I've got a Jeep, a Chevelle and a Harley with four speeds in each so it would probably make sense to keep my drivetrain. I hate to admit it, but after building a few autos, they can be a great transmission. A friend of mine, we'll call him "the voice of reason", thinks I need to fuel inject a 572 for it. His ideas make three grand to fuel inject my 396 seem pretty economical!
