Rear light wiring color codes

http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/tech...s_rr_light.jpg

I'm re-wiring my tail lights and at the same time installing a 7 pin trailer plug on the back of my truck. There are 4 wires that come out of the fuse block:
Light green
Dark green
Brown
Yellow.

From what I can tell in the avove diagram brown is running lights, from my cloudy memory light green is backup lights, and from what I can guess yellow and dark green are left and right signals / stop lights.

Does this sound about right?

I'm going to run a 7 wire bundle of 12 or 14 ga. Wire to where the spare would go, feed it through a weatherproof junction box and then straight to the tail lights. I'm also going to run fused wires out of the junction and into my 7 pin trailer plug.

I'm also going to hook up a trailer brake and a switch controlled solenoid controlled ignition controlled off of the aux slot in the trailer plug for intermittently charging my camper's deep cell batteries

I like wiring

Re: Rear light wiring color codes

As far as the charging on a 12 or 14 ga wire, I don't think that will do what you are looking for. IIRC the wire off the alternator should be 10ga. The run from the front of the truck to the back and then to the trailer should be a bit larger. Just like an extension cord. I might look at a 8ga or maybe 6ga.
