more goodies for the truck

Well I hae been kithing around the idea of more power and how I want to get there. Last time I put the truck on the dyno it made 378/368 to the tires but that was before the cold air and headers. But I am wanting to be in the 430 ish rwhp area. Currently it has run a best of 12.9 at 105 mph hoping that with another 50 hp and a converter it will run botton 12's on motor then I am going to spray either a 175 or 200 shot on it and see how she likes it. I just picked up this edelbrock proflo intake and have been doing a little clean up of the rough casting. Hopefully with that, the headers, cold air and a bigger camshaft it will hit my hp goals.

Sweet! At the power levels you're shooting for in addition to the clean up, you might want to consider doing some port matching too?

I've heard great stuff about the Pro-flo intakes. I have one as well for my '69. Its supposed to make good torque, so you should notice some pick me up in your pick em up. That intake matched with a good torque'y cam and you should pull pretty hard I would think... Thats the theory I used behind my build anyway lol

BTW... I'm jealous of the black!!! Mine is the silver cast finish, but I got it from Wasted Income so beggers cant be choosers haha Still looks evil on top of my motor though

Yeah I plan to do a little porting to the heads and make sure its a smooth transition from the intake to the heads. This intake was terrible out of the box. I cant believe they pickup what I have heard they do out of the box. Definately excited to get it installed!

Be sure to keep us updated with the changes! When I bought mine, i sat it on top of my motor and left it there on the engine stand. I honestly haven't given too much of a looking over, perhaps I should follow your lead and do some cleaning up before the final bolt on? is the casting in there that rough? pics?

Sounds like you should achieve you Hp numbers easily, wonder how much quicker it will be time slip wise. What does your truck weigh in at right now.

Here is what it weighed last time on the scales. This was about 1/4 tank and me in the seat. I am 190 lbs btw.. I am hoping for low 12's or high 11's na on motor. Should get there I think.

I will take pics of the runners tomorrow. I have one bank all done and the inlet for the tb i did some blending. My casting was pretty rough not to mention there was a pretty good lip on the bottom of the runner.

Do you have your corner weights from before the swap? I'm curious to know the weight differences between a swapped truck and a stocker. I know the physical engine weight differences, but the acc. drive stuff, a/c or not, harness and little extra crap that doesn't usually get accounted for whether its added or removed to complete the swap. I know my '69 swb (a/c truck with iron headed sbc) weighed 3942 with me in it (185lbs) and a full tank before I pulled the truck apart. I only had a single drive on scale, I didn't get corner numbers (that would have been nice to have). I've since shed A LOT of stuff out of it but i'm impatient to know the weight savings lol

That truck is scootin pretty good for being over 4k. Our trucks never cease to amaze me. Gives me hope!!!

I did not get a before weight so I am not sure about the weight savings. I would guess around 250-300 lbs as I have an ls1 which is an aluminum block.

Nice clean up! I know I've got some massaging to do around the tb opening. I'll be running a fast 92 and I think the opening is a shade under 90mm. In fact I seem to remember the holes for the tb being off too and I will need to fill them and redrill/tap them. What tb are you running?

I think theres a 65lb difference between the ls1 and an lq4/9 motor if I remember right. Thats still a good chunk off the nose though

Currently I am running an 8 pin truck tb I think its 78mm? But I am going to convert to a 6 90mm ls2 tb. I plan to wire in a new connector and install a corvette tac module. I hope this works!!
