Header bolts size

Ok one of the 100 little things I need to do is find some header bolts as I lost the manifold bolts when they were taken off and for some reason I cant seem to find them or at least decently priced ones. I have found some online but they dont say the size or thread pattern, I know they are metric Im thinking M8x1 or 1.25 does anyone know the size I need for my 07 5.3 ? and where to go to get some ? I went to the local Home Depot but all they had was SAE grade 8 not in metric tho...I refuse to pay the 30-60 bucks that these places i found want. they are just freaken bolts, somewhere there has to be a place I can go to find these at a reasonable price... thanks for any help oh and I am going with some shorty headers if that makes a difference

What I am finding it is an 8mm x 1.25 thread. Hit up lowes or home depot you should be able to get them for a couple bucks.

If you have ACE, they always help me, especially if you have one of the "old school" mom n pop owned ones. I've always had the hardware guy throw me a bone of expensive hardware as an enthusiast. OTherwise, Fastenal is a really nice resource too, just be patient with the employees...they don't tend to work auto-specific.

Another known Good Dude on this forum. I've been awestruck with the transparent generosity on this forum. I've been given parts by various members 3-4 times now, and always made a point to pay it forward. **knock on wood** but that sort of act actually works here.

Now,

on my way to ace hardware I found a fastenal and found those m8 bolts in the gold color bolts. They have a zinc coating. I also found that metric bolts are not rated like standard is grade rated metric is class rated these bolts are class 10.8 which is close to the grade 8 in sae

Thanks everyone now that's one less thing I need to worry about

Re: Header bolts size

Ya, thats what anti-seize was for...but most of us forget it. Thats also why the stud-style replacement has gotten more popular, as its much less likely to sheer at the nut.

I wonder if they are even grade 8 or class 10.9 metric....been researching this and seems to be a very popular topic so I guess it happens alot ! I think I was seeing red when I discovered this purple after the second one.

Re: Header bolts size

I went with stainless bolts. not as common, as they're metric, but they are out there and should hold up pretty good.
