C10 chassis compaired to GMC chassis
Just curious what the difference was in the 2
other than the C10 having trailing arms and the GMC having leafs will the hangers for the leaf springs bolt to the c10 frame easily? would like to change gmc long bed over to short bed and have a c10 short bed frame and wasnt sure how hard the suspension is going to be to swap over...any ideas or advice????? |

Re: C10 chassis compaired to GMC chassis
The 63-66 GM (Chevy or GMC) frames are the same. 2wd GMC came standard with leaf springs, but could be ordered with Trailing Arms.
2wd Chevy came standard with Trailing Arms but could be ordered with Leafs. All 4x4's came with Leafs. Chevy has the VIN stamped on the Frame. GMC does not. The same goes for the 60-62 Frames. . So yes, you can move components over from any 63-66 frame.

Re: C10 chassis compaired to GMC chassis
With that said how hard is it going to be to swap the leaf springs and
hangers from the gmc frame over to the c10 frame? Any difference in leaf spring length due to long bed |

Just took a 65 GMC suburban apart and it had the VIN stamped on the frame.

Interesting Well, it looks like they weren't consistent in that area either.

Re: C10 chassis compaired to GMC chassis
So any idea on the leaf spring hangers on rear being a bolt/rivet swap or if fitting, drilling and mounting will be needed.
And my guess would be leaf spring length would be the same regardless of long or short bed..any thoughts? |

Re: C10 chassis compaired to GMC chassis
I'm not sure on those specifics.
Just guessing, I'd say the leafs are the same - short bed and long bed. I would imagine holes for the leaf hangers will need to be drilled. Bolts will need shear strength.
