Re: Identify trans
Looks to be a th350. May be the lock-up converter style though. Those wires coming from the side may be for the lock-up.

Re: Identify trans
Not sure how the th350 lock-up works but my 700r4 has an "o" ring on the tip of the input shaft. If that "o" ring goes bad it won't work right.
Maybe check to see if yours has one.

Re: Identify trans
That's a TH350C transmission. Also known as a lock up Turbo 350. Early 80s vintage.

Re: Identify trans
Is this a desirable trans with the lockup? Or, should I have it disabled?

Re: Identify trans
I'm not a transmission expert, that said, it has the electronic component for the lock up, but the shaft appears to be from a non-lock up TH350. I'm sure someone here can shed some light on this.

Re: Identify trans
Like the guy above me said, you'd have to remove the torque converter and view it from the front to see the shaft.

Re: Identify trans
My (5.3L LM7) 4L60e input shaft on my 1966 C10
It'll (input shaft o-ring) look similar to this once you remove the torque converter. Here is a better TH350 Lockup input shaft

Re: Identify trans
if you search for th350c in the faq quite a few threads come up on how to rig it up and just leaving the wires unhooked

Re: Identify trans
I've never had one but I suppose it would lower your final rpm by about 200 or so like the 700r4 when you engage the lockup. Are these trannies weaker than the regular 350?
I think it would be cool to have the strength of the 350 and the lock of the 700.

Re: Identify trans
Well...took this trans to a shop to be rebuilt. As it turns out, it's not a 350 but, a 250...never heard of a th250. The trans guy pointed to a spot just to the left of the cooler line fittings and, above the hole for the dipstick. Said it was an external adjuster for one of the bands. Also said the biggest motor that should be in front of it was a 6 cylinder...so much for that...LOL Now I've decided to try and find a TH400 to have built for my truck. Seems there's always something in the way of getting my truck running. Oh well, live and learn...LOL |
