'62 dually, swapping out master cylinder
So the the hard line in the rear rusted out and brake pedal went to the floor while backing up in the driveway. I figured now was a good time to replace the one pot master cylinder with a two pot since I'll be bleeding the brakes anyways, any recommendations on what master cylinder to use?

Re: '62 dually, swapping out master cylinder
I'm doing the same next weekend. The master I plan on using is for a 90s chev truck and a wilwood propotioning valve. My truck has disc brakes tho, so I'm not sure how it would work on your truck.

I would use a master for a '67-'70 C30. You could also upgrade to power brakes if you desired.

Re: '62 dually, swapping out master cylinder
Alright, finally getting around to this project on the '62 dually. Is there any reason I can't use the front suspension out of a '76 GMC? The donor truck uses 5 lug wheels.

Re: '62 dually, swapping out master cylinder
You'd have a 1/2 ton front end and everything that goes with that. Why not just get a front end from a '71-'87 1 ton? I bought a '76 3/4 ton chassis for $200 the other day.

Re: '62 dually, swapping out master cylinder
is the 3\4 ton basically a bolt on swap? I think the half ton is just a couple holes need to be drilled.

Re: '62 dually, swapping out master cylinder
As I stated in my reply to your PM, the C20 or C30 front suspension will bolt to your '62 C30 frame that same as it would with a C10.

Re: '62 dually, swapping out master cylinder
Yes, but my question is why you want to put a 1/2 ton front end on a 1 ton flatbed dually with 5.14 gears to begin with...I don't get it. BTW, I thought SRW for some reason earlier; get one from a dually so you don't have mismatched wheels.

Re: '62 dually, swapping out master cylinder
The only reason for the half ton front end was because there's one for sale locally for a good price but I'm not considering that route anymore and will start looking for a 3\4 or one ton front end. So by going with the later model front end can I completely ditch the old hydro vac system?
