Anybody using an electric fuel pump on a 250 or 292?

Hey guys! I'm considering using external electric pump on my warmed over 292, lumps, cam, etc. Was wondering if anyone one has a recommendation of what pump to use.

I was running an electric fuel pump when i had the 292 in my truck. Ran great, make sure your fuel pressure is around 5psi. I am now running a 8.1 vortec in my truck using a bosch fuel pump at around 50psi.

Sometimes converting to things like electric pumps vs. mechanical, and to electric fan cooling vs. mechanical blades off the water pump, just add to the # of things that can go wrong--plus make replacing a troubled one a bit more of a headache.

Just things to consider if changing when not necessary, like when I had to install an electric pump on my '66 due to engine having no provision for a mechanical.

That warmed over 292 really sounds like a bunch of fun. Properly built and with right combo of mods really make them sound AND perform great. No other sound comes close to a "split manifold" on a 6-banger; so sweet!

Pending on the carb....use an electric pump with no more then 8 psi. I'm running one on my mild 292 and it runs great...quicker start ups....easier on the battery. Most of the time a mechanical fuel pump will go out before an electric one will.....especially if the pump is placed as near to the tank as possible. I have my electric pump right under the tank...so most of the time its pushing rather then pulling....which makes them last a whole lot longer.
