Rim & Tire Size Help:
Please help!
I was just told you cant lower 15x8 rally rims in the front because of the spindle clearance and front tires rubbing, so I have to go to 15x7's in the front. Thinking about just selling the rims and going to Weld Racing. If I do 15x7 Weld Racing in the front, what is the biggest back rim I can do in the back and the fattest tire I can go without tubing the bed? Truck is almost finished painted and and I need the rims/tires ASAP. Thanks! |

Re: Rim & Tire Size Help:
You can lower a c10 with 8in rallys. I just lowered my 78 yesterday with rallys. I used CPP 2.5in drop spindles(1.25in rotors) and cut one round off the front springs...no rubbing issues at all. I lowered my 82 with Mcgaughys 2.5in drop spindles(1in rotors) with the same wheels but I did have to grind a little bit off the lower leading edge of the lower control arm but that was it.
If you decide to go with Weld Wheels a 15x10 with 5.5in backspace will be perfect.

Re: Rim & Tire Size Help:
So if I did 15x10 with 5.5in back spacing Weld Racing Rims in the rear then I did a flip kit it wouldnt rub at all? Then do 15x7 in the front Weld Rims I can do drop spindles with out any grinding?

Re: Rim & Tire Size Help:
Yes with 295/50x15 tires. Below are pics with 5in backspace and the clearance is 1/4in on the outside and 1in on the inside. As long as you have 4in or less backspace on the front you should be fine but I do know a guy with 15x6 Welds that had to grind slightly on the caliper but he has 3in drop spindles.

Re: Rim & Tire Size Help:
Sorry for so many questions im 16 and trying to restore my c10, I just got my truck back from paint today, Im just going to stick with the Rally Rims. If I get the drop spindles and the flip kit as long as 1.25 rotors would it be a possibility I could come to you and pay you to help me? I have no experience in suspension work or lowering it

Re: Rim & Tire Size Help:
Well, you can bring it by so I can check out the condition of the suspension and see what you need to get it where you want it and we'll take it from there.

Re: Rim & Tire Size Help:
Okay sounds good, I will be okay though putting 15x8 rally's all around the truck at stock height for now? Then once you get a chance and are you're free I can come to you with the rally's on stock height and see what lowering I will need? I appreciate all the help, thank you very much!
