Hi guys!Newbie here
Hi Guys!I just signed up.As you can see I am an import guy who likes big wheels and drives a semi.I am thinking about buying a C-10.I have no idea about domestic cars or trucks.I am pretty much looking for a C-10 between the years of 1981-1987.Not sure what to look for.I know the 5 lug denotes the 2 wheel drive and, I would prefer that.I hear many people use the word 350.I am assuming cubic capacity /engine size.What should I look for when restoring a pick up?.
I can get head work done on my DETROIT 12.7 for about $2500.What's the cost of head work on these 350 engines?What about the trannies?Are they 3/4speed and do they cost that much to rebuild? I am looking for a c-10 between $1500-$2500 and sink about another $3500 in restoring.This will include minor engine/head work,overall paint and wheels.Is this budget possible? Thx |

Re: Hi guys!Newbie here
If you like big wheels and want 2wd, I would look for a short bed. These body styles look good with larger wheels, lowered a little bit. The 350 ci engine is a great platform to build up what ever you want and parts are very common. An auto trans with overdrive makes the fuel economy a bit better too.
Welcome to the site and good luck in finding a truck.

[QUOTE=henboy1;6805224]Thx Silverbear.A lot to learn on here![/QUOTE
I am about to go look at this vehicle which was orginally owned by a celebrity.The current owner has done much since he owned iut for the past 10yrs . This is the message I got from him on facebook. "show truck when I got it 10 years ago so everything has been upgraded. Interior, grille, mirrors, bumper, etc. Vortec 350 engine came out of a 2000 Tahoe, 700r tans. The title is in my mama's name.". he wants $4500 and I am thinking more like a $3500 offer, when I get there. He claims there is no rust and the truck has been sitting for the past 10yr.What else should I look out for when I get there to check it out.Are these trannies and engine upgrades good? |
