Purhased this truck about a year ago and previous owner converted the front end to disc brakes.I am trying to figure out which dropped spindles to purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated as i am kinda new to these trucks.

Re: 1966 c20 front end conversion help

The crossmember and control arms are '63-'66. By looking at the dust shield I think the spindles and rotors are '73-'87. The only difference between the '71-'72 spindles and the '73-'87 spindles are they take a different upper ball joint and I believe different tie rod ends.

Thanks for the response....So im guessing my best bet would be to detrermine what ball joints and tie rod ends are on there before ordering the dropped spindles?

It's got five lugs, so it's also C10 (half ton) stuff.

That would be a good idea. However those tierods are looking kind of sad, so it might be time for some new ones anyway. You might pickup a '73-'87 C10 tierod and see if it fits the arm on the spindle.

Well if you are going to rebuild the front suspension, the particular year of those spindles is not an issue. Just get whichever spindles you like, '71-'72 or '73-'87, and buy the correct ball joints and tierods for the dropped spindles.
