two pieces
I'm getting closer to paint for my 53 Chevy pickup.
I read on this forum that the hood can easily be separated by removing the braces then drilling out the rivets. I will have the hood media blasted before paint. The hood is in very good shape and the minor rust on the front lip area has been repaired. I thought I would split it in two, media blast, prime and paint the seam, then rivet it back together. Paint the whole assembly later. Any thoughts regarding splitting the hood in two? |

Re: two pieces
So I don't know much about it personally, but I've been talking to the paint and body shop that currently had my truck about how they are handling the hood. He would certainly recommend not taking the good apart because it is a fairly complex shape and could be impossible to get it to go back together correctly. My hood was in pretty good shape to begin with, but did require some spot repairs. After the repairs were done, the entire thing was media blasted, and then done in POR15. Primer over that, then paint. Another option to consider.
