Re: Fuel Gauge hook up

this should help.

Your sending unit wire will go the fuse box. On the back of the gauge.....pink on the right and tan on the left side of the gauge as your looking at the back of the cluster.

Some common causes for the gauge to read full (or over-full) are:

(1) Bad connection or broken wire somewhere between the gauge and sending unit. A quick way to test for this is to temporarily jumper the sending unit wire to ground. If that makes the gauge go to empty the wiring is okay. If not, check for bad connections or a break in the sending unit wire.
(2) Poor ground connection at the sending unit. Check to make sure the ground wire has a good clean connection that's free of rust & paint build-up.
(3) Failed sending unit.

Re: Fuel Gauge hook up

my gauge stock with new sending unit, the needle just barely moves from where you can't see it to just past empty toward the full side. the new sending unit ck ok with meter at 0-30 om. bad gauge? wires reversed on gauge?

Re: Fuel Gauge hook up

What happens when you ground the wire to the sending unit?
And what happens when you pull that wire off the sending unit?
