Odometer plastic gears
I've been working on getting all of the gauges working properly on my 1963 cluster. I pulled it out, torn it all down and found one of the plastic gears that turns the odometer is broken. I've tried a few different kinds of glues/epoxies, but they just don't want to hold together a spinning plastic gear, plus I want it to last longer than a few days of use. I've looked everywhere online for one and can't seem to find any. Not really looking to spend $60 on a Craigslist cluster just for the one plastic gear.
Any suggestions? or anyone maybe have an old parts cluster lying around that would be willing to sell me just the gear? Thanks in advance. Figured I'd add a picture of the truck, haven't posted it much on here. Free advertising and an awesome project truck. Last edited by dentonskatesupply; 10-21-2014 at 02:32 PM. Re: Odometer plastic gears
When I redid mine, I got a speedo out of a 63 at the junk yard cause my needle was broke. The 63 had a plastic gear and my 60 had a metal gear - the plastic gear had a bent/worn vane (the one on the left) so I used my metal one. Just suggesting that you can go to a junk yard or (pull a part)and look for an older truck (60 for sure) that used the metal gear.
