Lowering springs/ drop spindles c20
Hey guys looking to buy 5" drop springs for the rear of my 71 c20 what is the best place to get these? Cpp
Also has anyone every ran the performance online c20 drop spindles I think there the only ones who make a drop spindles for a 71 c20 thank you

I was going to use C30 3 inch drop spindes on my C20 but went 4x4 instead. All you have to do is use C30 calipers

Will you use your C20 as a C20 capacity truck?
If so, skip the 5" lowering springs & install airbags w/a simple schrader supply to each. You'll get the drop w/a better ride quality & still maintain the ability of the 3/4 ton.

C20 spindles are expensive.
I have a set of the airbaggit it ones on my 75 C20 that I got cheap used and was just using for mock up.

I have never bought 3/4 ton before...I guess they are a little more expensive...I had no idea.

That and there are very few lowering parts made specifically for the 73-87 C20's. If I could go back I would have waited for a C10 instead of hoping on the C20 I got.

Thanks guy for the input Im really like scoti idea about bags in the rear so I could still haul with the truck just wondering the best setup for the bags I'm new at this if ya can't tell this is my first build thanks for the help

I did what scoti is suggesting, and what another member kieth suggested. Don't have a lot of miles on my truck, still working on some other stuff, but it does ride pretty well. I went with the bags from airbagit, happy enough with them, but not with the fittings. I had a hard time getting the push tube connectors to not leak, ordered the most expensive airbrake connectors and couldn't get one to stop leaking, finally found a knowledgeable guy at my local NAPA and bought the compression type fittings and no more leaks. Recommend buying or making the brackets for the top part on the frame, makes it easier to install, and just bolting the bottom to the trailing arm, this put me at pretty much exactly the right installed height. I did not measure, but would guess I got about 4 inches of drop and it sits with a slight rake. My front end is 2" drop springs (not spindles, I got a sweet deal from someone local), and I have a big block installed, so the front is heavier than stock. Follow this link to get 4 bags, http://www.airbagit.com/Default.asp I used the 2500 in the rear, based on others recommendations, have the 2600's in storage in case I ever want to change them out.
FYI, I have read where some people had negative experiences with airbagit, but mine was pretty positive, with the exception of not being able to get the fittings to stop leaking. If you just skip that and go to NAPA, I think you will be happy. |

I'll go on record & recommend using board supporting vendors w/quality reputations (good parts, after sales service, & communication). While your experience w/Airbagit.com/AIM/Chassis Tech or whatever else they're calling themselves these days was good, a quick web search suggests you were an exception. We have several vendors here that are on the forums making suggestions, seeking out the needs of the community, & offering quality tech info (guys that support those of us who ask questions). I will always steer my business their direction over a mail order company just to save money. Very good point, Scoti. I'll go on record and say that you are absolutely correct. I have bought from the vendors on this board and will continue to do so. Don't really remember why I went with these guys in this instance. Should have thought a little more about that when posting the links. I guess I just get excited that I could help someone out with my limited, learn as I go knowledge.
