Cheap floorboard fix

I was wandering through the woods looking for something to patch my floorboards with. I found some 3/8 steel plate that the military dumped...too thick, some RV siding that I took from a recycling center...too thin and then I came accross an old 55 gallon drum that should be just right. Hopefully I can flatten, cut and weld in some floorboard pieces and get my floors back in one piece within the next couple weeks as my schedule allows. If it works out I'll try to post pictures. I love inexpensive fixes.

Re: Cheap floorboard fix

I've found that old truck hoods work the best for cheap floorboards. Use the rib down the middle for anti-oil canning method.

Or you just buy a replacement floor pan for $39.99. http://www.brotherstrucks.com/prodin...number=FRP8700 seems pretty cheap to me to do it the right way.

I agree, I like to do things the correct way. The previuos owner of my truck used finishing nails as retainer pins and just welded the t-case shift plate to the floorboard and it drives me crazy.

Unfortunately for oversized items purchased online I need to double the price for the cost of shipping to Alaska. My truck will never be a restoration project, it's too cobbled together with mismatched parts so a few more won't hurt.

Ok, I didn't see that you where in Alaska. Makes sense to me now why you are doing it this way.
