Camaro subframe bushing issue
Alright guys - I know this has been beat to death in the past, but I ran into a speed bump and must query the group... Finally started putting new bushings in my control arms (1980 Camaro) after powder coating and (only) the upper rears aren't fitting. The 424's are suppose to measure 1 5/16", my old ones measure the same. However, both new 424's actually measure 1 7/16". Has anyone else run into this, and if so, what # bushing did you go to? Thanks.
Cheers, Jim |

Re: Camaro subframe bushing issue
Hi bowt1ed, I recently changed my bushings. I found the front clip is a mixture of '79 and '80 Camaro steering and suspension.
I had an issue trying to find the right bushings for the upper arms. I removed the old ones in hopes to go by size and dimensions but found the size and dimension charts on auto parts sites had some wrong information listed. I finally had NAPA order both possibilities and found the right ones. I think I may have the parts in the shop yet, if you still need help, gather your exact sizes of length and diameter and I'll do a check. Jim

Re: Camaro subframe bushing issue
Thanks Jim. The OD of the ones I removed (upper, rear) is 1 5/16 and the same in length (metal sleeve). I suspect that the FB329's may fit, and it may be possible that the early 80's Camaro's continued with the 79 upper, rear bushing size. Going to order a couple today and see. Thanks, Jim
