I think only the later columns need the harness adapter, which is also required if you use a replacement turn signal cancel in your truck column. You'll know by if the connector is straight or u-shaped. I have installed van tilts in trucks w/o moving the neutral safety switch. You need to move the brake push rod to the other side of the pedal arm. It's been a while and can't recall if I had to make an harness extension to reach the van location. That's easy enough to check.
