Coil Spring Questions...
Just installed -2" coil springs and -2.5" spindles in my 83 c10 and I'm wondering how long it will take for the new springs to "settle" and how much more do they usually come down..... I also installed a 5" flip kit while I had the rear end out to install new gears and now that it's all back together, it almost looks like the front is taller than the rear. I know my rear leafs sag some so I expected it to be just about level if not have a slight rake, which is what I was after. I also have 275/60/15's on the back and 255/60/15's on the front, so there is about 1" difference in height of the tires which adds to the visual affect... Really I think it's about level, just curious how much I should expect the springs to settle, by how much and how long?....

Make sure they're centered in the upper pockets. The round well that the upper end of the springs goes up into, the spring should be centered in it and not rubbing either side. It's real easy to get them out of the seat.
I've never had a set of aftermarket lowering springs settle in to any real amount. Stock springs will usually settle a whole lot over the first few thousand miles though.

I'm sure I have the spring seated properly. Really, I think it's alright, the more I look at it the less it looks like the front is taller. I'll post some pictures this weekend and let ya see what ya think....
Thanks

Yeah thats what i was talkin about i dont know if i would do another truck with cut down or lowerin springs if you lift the truck on a post lift the springs fall out of location and then i have to jack the a arm up while holding the spring in place . I Briefly thought about making some limiters or tryin to get some kinda flatbar that i could bolt to the top just to hold the spring but After thinking about it seems id be better off to save up and get drop spindles and do it right. |

My 91' would pop the coil out of the pocket on the LCA. I was runnin' Eibach 2" coils, BellTech 2" dropped spindles, stock arms & Summit Sporttruck shocks... It would pop in as soon as the truck was put back on the ground and you bounced it once.
When I bagged it, I welded a piece of 1" boxtube to the inside of the lower cup and bolted the cup inplace where the shockbolts were.
