LMC gas tank location
ok, I'm getting ready to put in the gas tank to the rear of my bed. I know the tank cannot mount on top the frame rails because it will sit to high not allowing the bed to fit. When I put it up from the bottom, it looks like it is going to hang down really low. Like too close to the ground low. Is that just the way it sits?

Re: LMC gas tank location
I installed mine under the frame. I seem to have plenty of clearance, rear differential would hit way before the tank. Springs could not even collapse far enough to cause the tank to be lower than the differential. I have coil springs and you have leaf but I really could not see a reason for alarm with under the frame mounting.

Re: LMC gas tank location
I used 3/4" by 1&1/2" bolts only, no straps. The holes in my frame were in the perfect location for this tank, no drilling was required.
I did not use the straps. I also sprayed undercoating on the tank as you can see and I grounded the tank with grounding straps to the frame, although the bolts would have been sufficient. |

Mine looked too low until I painted it black. Don't even notice it now.

I guess I do have two additional questions . . .
I see you are lowered a bit, how much? If you clamp the tank in place under the frame for measuring purposes how close to the ground is it? |

Re: LMC gas tank location
Rear is lowered about 5" I just got the tank mounted, but I have ot had her off the jack stands to check ground clearance. I welded the blots in the frame rails so if I ever need to remove the tank, I can just take off the 4 blots. I also used some 1" flatbar to help support it.

Re: LMC gas tank location
After hearing your ride was lowered roughly 5" what is the ground clearance since you have it in place?

Re: LMC gas tank location
Finished the install yesterday. I put a nice inline fuel filter. I'm a little worried about ground clearance. I have about 7" I drag the tank. Think that will be enough?
