Re: factory finish???
Winston, 1960-1963 hood hinges were done in Silver Cad plating with Grey or Black Phosphate plating on the springs with silver cad plated bolts. 1964-1966 had grey/black phosphate hood hinges and springs with silver cad plated bolts , Heres a picture from a 1965 Lambrecht truck.
Zinc plating is much brighter with a blue tint than silver cad. Zinc is whats used on todays hardware store bolts. Not many places do silver cad anymore because of EPA regulations but its still out there. The black/grey phosphate color I was told is determined by how long the part sat in the tank. If you look close at this picture I zinc plated the hood hinges with black/grey phosphate springs and zinc plated all the bolts for a more flashy look on this GMC I modified.

Re: factory finish???
Pic of oem4me 1965 16,000 mile unrestored burb. Hinges are shiny, not black...... the debate continues
Maybe it is like the firewall color, depending on which plant it was made at? I have a set of 1965 hinges that are silver plated as well, almost a bare metal but definitely some light coating

Re: factory finish???
its gonna be $125 for the full run of window regulators, latches, striker plate, all the bolts for the engine and engine compartment, they do big and small runs so as long as its in one run is where the cheap price comes from!!! they dont so black phosphate and oil, but i got a guy for that...

Re: factory finish???
i called about 6 places to find this one!!! the best is they do the small jobs, so a person can have a real resto, on a small budget. so i had to go see the place, i will be taking all the parts i need plate'd cuz i have both silver cad and yellow zinc, so one run for each all at once!!!
