I have also changed out instrument light to LED 6000k.
Did not take a picture of that , figured plenty of pictures of that on this forum.

Re: my special suburban

I have to correct my last post. I have realised that I hooked up the cables wrong for the toggle switch and also at the wrong place.
These two cables from the switch should NOT be hooked up between the wiper switch and the electric control box. Instead they should be hooked up BEFORE the control box and at the "C" and "E" cables (Grey and Black). Then it works!!
Otherwise I have not done much; rebuilt the alternator, changed out V-belts.
Realised that the starter is too slow and it only measures 7.8 volts at cranking.
When the glow cycle was on it was 11.1 volts. My batteries are small; only 510 cca each but 7.8 volts at cranking is low. It should be higher!!

More posts will come soon now that spring is arriving.

Changed out cables to rear lights with cable protection all the way.
Red cables are for extra amber signal lamps and the fat one is for extra back up lamps/charger power for RW 12 volt charger.

Installed a later (up to -91?) OEM coolant catch tank next to the fender.
Just need to hook it up and take away the Renault? kind sitting next to it.
I figured that when engine gets hot, water expands and then the air in the tank will be compressed and as the OEM tank is bigger it will have less stress on the head gaskets??.
This is a theory I thought about because the catch tank also looked bigger over the years in newer styles in the Lmc truck catalog.

Re: my special suburban

the coolant catch tanks should never be a closed container. your rad-cap is a pressure valve, that opens above a certain pressure inside your engine, because water expands when it gets warm. Thus coolant flow into your tank. then when it cools down, the water inside your radiator cools and the rad-cap has a different low pressure spring for that, that opens and lets the coolant flow back into the radiator.

so always make sure your coolant reservoir can breath.

Re: my special suburban

I am going to change the oil in the NP205 transfer case and I don't want to run 80-90w oil in it if the seals fail between the transfer case and the automatic transmission in the future.

It has ATF in it right now as it was delivered from the factory in -86. So, I have been studying oil on the Internet and in brochures and came to the insight to use GL-4 tractor transmission and hydraulic oil UTTO-type. It is a "mild" hypoid oil for not-so-hard working hypoid gears even though the NP205 is not a hypoid gear type like an automotive axle. Tractors have a lot of side cut gears just like the NP205 and are running long hours. This oil is also working in tractors with multi-disc transmissions (power shifts) and wet brakes.

So my thought is that in case the seals break in the future and oils are mixed the TH400 will not suffer any harm, at least this is my theory.

Re: my special suburban

The spring weather allows me to get some welding done, and I've got a lot to do.
This is the worst place so far but I know I still have got rear corners in the back of body.

Re: My special Suburban

Finished up this spot at least, not without pain, went to the doctor and checked my eyes after getting pain and blurred vision, no damage though. Just had to wrap an old shirt over the welding helmet to a glare bunching back up from the ground behind me.

Re: my special suburban

Finished up the two corners in the back, one side was really bad. I did some other smaller spots too but I have not photographed them all. It would be a whole page of just different welded panel pictures.
First picture is of the driver side and the other is the passenger side.
