Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Ok so I think at this point everything forward of the bed is about 90% prime ready. Mostly I just need to pull it back outside and give it a good bath, blow dry, and go over it once more with 180 grit on the da once more. Tomorrow I'll give the front end a good nother once over. Then I'll work on patching up and finishing up the bed.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Not really. Hasn't been a problem as of yet.
Well it's ready for primer finally! Just have to still convert my garage to a spray booth and give it a rub down with some wax and grease remover. Should be able to pull the trigger early next week! Pics.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Should look good. Little tip for the patches. Try to avoid straight lines with patches. They will pull in the same direction and cause more distortion than a round patch. Just my 2 cents.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
I did learn that Sadly... At the time I was just thinking I didn't know how to cut big circles with any sense of efficiency. Now I know for next time, just make them circles!

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
That was a LOT of work to get stripped! The patch looks like it turned out well, and like you said a little filler and nobody will know. Good luck with the priming.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
it has always amazed me how much work goes into the project before the paint. then the actual painting is just a small fraction. i think i spent more time cleaning my guns when i did the two tone on my 95, than i did mixing and spraying the paint put together.
looks like you're heading in the right direction, good work! a good mask job saves a lot of work later on.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
More masking done today .If all goes to plan, I'll finish masking and finish hanging plastic tomorrow Wednesday I'll get my lights and compressor set up and dialed in, and Thursday spray primer.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Looking good. I can make primer run so I have never tried painting.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
I'm sure I'll screw up here and there but I just hate being held captive on not completing a project because paint is unobtainable. So I figure I gotta get some experience by getting some experience!

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
best way to learn is by doing in my opinion! i will do as much research as i can, and then i jump in with both feet.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Good work. That's a lot of surface area! Kind of like painting an aircraft carrier :-)

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Do you plan on pulling the bed to spray the back of the cab?

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
I guess it's just the light, but the inside of the doors looked tan. Anyway, I went back and reread, did you decide between ochre and original?
