Which Gas Tank?
My cab always seems to smell like gas and I just found out why. Every time I make a right turn fuel dribbles out of my filler neck. I tried a new gas cap but I think the problem is with the filler neck. It looks like someone removed a locking gas cap with a screw driver and pretty much trashed the surface that the gas cap gasket mates to.
I already purchased a new rubber seal. I am planning on keeping this truck for the long term so I want things done right so I figured the best way to have piece of mind is to just replace the tank. I may some day do the camaro tank mod but for the next few years I will have the tank in the stock location (and may just leave it there if the fuel smells stop). Looking in the catalog for the local Chevy Truck Shop there are standard zinc coated tanks. Classic Industries is about 20 miles away and they have 2 choices: Zinc coated like the truck shop and also Ni-Tern Steel version for $30 more. What is the difference between the Zinc and the Ni-Tern Steel? Since the truck is stored in a garage out of the rain and the tank is in the cab I am sure there is little chance of it rusting out but there are usually things I did not think of when I assume something.

Re: Which Gas Tank?
I have tried several google searches and cannot seem to find a definitive answer. I guess I will probably go with the galvanized (Zinc) coating.
