X Frame Exhaust Questions
I need to redo exhaust. My plans are block huggers into 2.5" tubing, run outside the frame rails, thru a cherry bomb and then thru a dynomax turbo muffler. Then I will either exit in front of the wheels, or out the back. I had a similar setup on my 51 Chevy car and I loved the quiet but nice sound I got.
My question is the best way to get to the outside of the frame from the block huggers. Can I go thru the space between the torsion rods and the frame? Right now my exhaust hangs really low, and I need to get tucked up nicely. Here are some pics of what I have now: You can see how low the exhaust is: This is where I want to run the exhaust thru: And then I was thinking of having it go thru this are where the body mount ends: and then stay nice and tucked in this are on the outside of the frame. I will probably need to wrap something around those wires to protect them from the heat... These are the block huggers I am starting with: and I plan to reuse the mufflers that are on there now since they are less than a year old: Any suggestion are appreciated.

Thats an interesting thread. The only problem that I see is that where they have the X, my trans crossmember blocks. My truck has a 700r4 and I really don't want to have to make a new mount.

While my truck is a '63, here is how I routed my exhaust to the outside of the frame with my shorty headers. You should be able to snake the down tube from the collector between the torsion bar and the frame at the frame rise.

Thanks! Thats exactly what I am thinking in my head. The only difference is that I will have a cherry bomb between where you have your clamps.
