Rear End Question

On my 64 Stepside - I have a WC 6 17 stamped on it. Does that mean a Posi 3.73?
And what does the 6 17 mean?

Re: Rear End Question

Wc is the code for the 3.73 posi. The 6 17 most likely refers to the month and date the axle was produced. I wish I could help you on the production date Bette as my axel is an hc 08 06 meaning posi August 1966

Re: Rear End Question

Factory spec sheets show it as a 3.73 posi date coded June 17

3838227 is the part # for 12 bolt rear end and will be 17 spline axles

Would depend if its a short wheel base or long wheel base.

115" = 14
127" = 15

This is for half tons.

No problem. Theres plenty of info and knowledge on the forum so if you can't find it in a search just feel free to ask. We're all here to help each other and preserve the trucks, info and history that we can.

Re: Rear End Question

There's no such thing as looking ignorant. Even the most experienced members can discover something new.

1963c10 isn't it interesting to see a page listing 61-66, yet, it doesn't list the H Freemont plant!

Re: Rear End Question

Was Fremont even on line at that time? My 61 shows a 1c14401010xx vin, and the sheet I looked at to verify the vin doesn't even show Oakland as a plant...
