Sources for "basic" heater?
Is there a place that stocks the basic heater for our trucks? Not sure where to get one but the deluxe heater I have takes up too much underhood space. Any suggestions or places that stock this would be wonderful.

Junk yards or Ebay. That's where I found mine. I'm not aware of any supplier stocking originals.

Do you know if I can use any 60-66 heater?

To my knowledge the recirculating heater was only used '60-'63. However, there is no reason one couldn't be installed into a '64-'66. You will use only 2 of the 3 levers on your heater control. The fan lever and the heat/defrost lever.

I got a basic heater from Ecklers. They were having a sale and I grabbed it for 9.95 plus shipping. I had a deluxe heater that was leaking and didn't want to spend the money to have it rebuilt (est. $350 @ the local shop) I had to mid if the housing as the inlet and outlets were for a basic not a deluxe. A little dremeling and she fits like a charm. Of course the heater is on all the time when I open the valve in the engine from the engine but for now I'm fine with the fix.

Re: Sources for "basic" heater?
With the economy heater in a 64-66 I can just adapt the cables to my stock controls? And just run a fan switch? In terms of shutting off hot water to the core I could always add a mechanical valve or does it have that from the factory?

Re: Sources for "basic" heater?
Just picked one up from http://www.aspenautoaz.com/ it came packaged well and was in great shape. I was able to get the dash lovers control cable switch and wires as well

Re: Sources for "basic" heater?
Thanks. I got the under hood part out today. Can I safely remove all the sheet metal ducting under the dash too if I intend on going with the economy setup?

Re: Sources for "basic" heater?
Yes. The econo box replaces everything inside. If your soft duct lines are hard and cracked you might want to replace them as well.

Re: Sources for "basic" heater?
Thanks! The soft lines are completely missing. Removing that heater box from outside really opened up room for the twin turbos!

Re: Sources for "basic" heater?
It will only be awesome if I can get the plumbing to fit. Picture a bundle of snakes in a really small space. Thats about what its looking like.
