how much of a Truckenstein do I have or is this right ?

OK so here is the question i. Looking to buy a new radiator for my truck and while looking I noticed the radiators that are flange mounted are from 60 to62 ... now I know that my radiator now is not for the truck but ... my cab I'd gag says it's a 65 yet the radiator core support looks like it may be older ? I am adding pic's so you have a better idea of what I'm asking also I see that the flanges are mounted to what looks like a spacer maybe homemade ? In one of the pic's you can see where I don't have any pedestals just holes where maybe they might have been ... so if I choose to keep the flange mount style it is right now will the 60to62 radiator work for my truck ? And lastly should I remove the spacers and flange mount to the core support itself ?

That doesn't look like a 60-62 setup to me. I'd be inclined to pull all that and go back to a 65 style installation.

I haven't seen a 60-62 v8 setup , but that might be what those spacers are for. With the square captive nuts on them they don't look home made to me...

all the core supports 60-66 have the holes and nuts to mount a 60-62 radiator, on the 63-66 there were pieces of tin bolted there to direct airflow to the radiator.

if you have a 63-66 frame and the original radiator mounts are missing, you might want to keep the 60-62 style radiator that bolts to the core support.

ok so if i got the type of radiator that says its for the year 60 to 62 so it had the flange on it it would be ok and cool my V8 then ? i mean im sure others have put a V8 in a 60 - 62 right ?

i am having no luck at all finding the stock upper radiator mount and the bottom U channels that it would rest in

so my thought was to maybe remove those spacers and buy the flange mount radiator that they claim is for the 60 -62 ... and mount it straight the the core support itself since the core support has mounting hole in it as well . what is your idea on this ? the web site says cools up to 600 HP lol ive never seen a 600 HP l6 before so my guess is that they mean to cool a v8 with it . and i am nowhere near 600 hp hell i havent even broke into the 300 yet lol ... happy truckin

I have a 64 gmc with a 472 caddy in it that has a 61 radiator bolted to the core , the guy used it with his camper and had no problems

I think those early 235 6's needed a lot of cooling, I have seen quite a few 49-54 cars (o.g. had a 235) with a v8 and a stock rad, and no problems.

I think the rad you have now might be a stock 60-62.. if you look at the front of the tank there should be a 60,61, or 62 embossed in it, about 1/2 inch high #'s , that would show what rad you have right now.

you might be able to leave those spacers and still bolt a stock 60-62 rad to them.

i know for sure that the radiator is not a stock one lol because it has the Chrysler pentistar on it ... but ok i believe you gave me my answer that it would work so im gonna do that
ty my trucks PO put in a dodge radiator ... and a ford power booster and master cylinder lol into this truck lol oh and best part using a dual bowl master but spliced the lines together so its running all brakes of of the 2 bowls into a single line setup lol
