Re: GMPP LS3 Engine controller kit

I am still looking for the TCM to interface with your ECM to run a 4L60E
I am still not sure that will happen
Do you know if GM has a ECM/TCM in one unit like the LM7 ECM

Re: GMPP LS3 Engine controller kit

Not to step on any toes but I just had that conversation with the Chevy Performance Parts engineers at the US Nationals in Indianapolis and asked them the same question. One was the engineer for the transmission systems and one was the engineer for the engine systems.

They don't have one Performance Parts controller that will control both the transmission and engine. Their reasoning is for one, newer vehicles use a different controller for each system. Another is they didn't want to cost penalize the builder that is using a manual transmission. Building one system to control both engine and transmission would be more expensive.

Also, some of the engine control systems are designed to be completly stand alone and others are designed to communicate with the transmission controller. The Chevy Performance Parts website has some good information on the different systems as does Jegs and Summit.

Just sharing some information I learned talking with the folks who design these systems. Oh, and since we are talking about GM parts wanted to let you know that is who I work for in the service and parts business.
