1957 3100 BBC Question
I have quite the question here and I imagine theres little "guarantees" until I start tearing into it but any previous experience would be nice.
I have a 1957 3100 chop top with a 1974 Nova Sub frame installed it was measured and boxed correctly 114 wheel center to wheel center now I am looking to install a 454 with a 4L80E to back it up So the question is 1) Will I need to do firewall mods I have seen some guys cut up a wheelbarrow to open it up 2) To avoid that is it possible to get a mount that would move the engine a few inches forward 3)If anyone has moved it forward I imagine the electric fans and water pump would conflict any solutions? Thanks in advance guys! |

Re: 1957 3100 BBC Question
I would recommend cruising thru the build threads similar to yours. From previous discussions the short answer is you will need to modify the firewall and even then may have issues with engine/radiator clearance. You will also have clearance issues with steering stuff and exhaust manifold/headers. But good news is lots of guys have done it successfully and may chime in.
