Weight Debate for Coilovers
I took my truck to the local recycle yard and weighed the front half. The front axle weight is 2040 lbs. So after discussion with the QA1 guys I am going with 450 lb coilovers and an aftermarket performance front sway bar. This will give me adjustable ride height, good quality ride and better handling.
What I have is the 350 SBC and 350 tranny.

Re: Weight Debate for Coilovers
That seems reasonable and at least you did run it past the guys at QA1 who I am assuming is a coil over shock supplier. The good thing is that it shouldn't be outrageously expensive to swap springs if those don't meet expectations for some reason.

Re: Weight Debate for Coilovers
wait wait wait.... need some other info....
Is this a stock 3100 frame truck? or does it have a clip? which clip? Was the K member relocated or changed in any way? Does your SBC have iron heads or alum? Alum radiator or steel? Battery still up front or moved? Alum wheels or steel wheels? brakes? calipers alum or steel? hubs? master placement? A-arms, tubes or stamped steel? Theres much to consider for "weight"

All good questions and I figured if anybody was interested, they would ask. I will do the best I can: 1969 Chevy Nova front sub frame. No idea on the K member. SBC iron heads. Alum radiator Battery up front Alum wheels Disc brakes not upgraded. Steel rotors. Master on firewall with power booster Currently all of the Nova sub frame is stock. Power steering gear box. Alum valve covers and air cleaner. New Edlebrock carb with stock manifold Alum radiator overflow Alum vacuum tank for booster Tire size 235 50 18 up front. Can't think of anything else.

Re: Weight Debate for Coilovers
I have a 53 AD with C4 front.
LS 5.3 with 4l65E I am using Bilstein coil overs with 450 lb eibach springs and they seemed to work good for mock up height so far, but haven't driven it yet. |
