Intake manifolds for torque

I'm looking to build my high compression 6.0 for max torque. I'm guessing the stock truck intakes work best for making torque in the lower RPM range. The car intakes and aftermarket intakes seem like they are designed for higher RPM horsepower. Anyone recommend an intake that is best for low RPM torque.

Re: Intake manifolds for torque

Hot rod magazine recently published a test of about 20 different intakes, if I remember the TBSS was the best when compared to the other stockers. Check their site to be sure.

Re: Intake manifolds for torque

The l92 intakes are better, but that will require square port heads. On the cathedral port stuff; truck will be best under around 4k rpm for torque. The LS6 intake is a decent option, worth around 20hp on the top end.

Keep in mind, what intake works best will be a function of the overall flow characteristics of your motor. Find the bottleneck and work from there. (I.e. no reason to spend $$$ for a FAST manifold and a 102mm tb on stock heads and a mild cam)

Re: Intake manifolds for torque

I like the looks of the LS6 intake. What is the difference between the LS1 intake and the LS6 intake?

Re: Intake manifolds for torque

Great article, thanks for the link. It looks the the two truck intakes would be best for me. The only issue is they are ugly. Dorman makes a replacement trailblazer intake that could be cleaned up to look as good as the LS6 visually, yet make the big torque numbers.

Part number 615-183
